Rwanda; An investment hub for Africa

Finnish companies and investors looking to invest in Rwanda will appreciate that it is an open and easy country to do business, where services are efficient and corruption-free. It is quick and easy to get an entry-visa upon arrival at the airport in Kigali (for all nationalities) or through our Embassy in Stockholm. Rwanda offers a ‘one stop center’ for companies looking to open offices in the country (a business online registration is possible in less than 8 working hours). Investors would have access not only to Rwanda’s market of 12.3 million people, but also to an additional market potential of hundreds of millions of people in key regional blocs in which Rwanda has membership; East African Community (EAC), the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) and the newly launched African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

For the one looking for an exciting tourism destination, known as the land of a thousand hills, Rwanda’s stunning scenery and warm, friendly people offer unique experiences in one of the most remarkable countries in the world. It is blessed with extraordinary biodiversity, with incredible wildlife living throughout its volcanoes, montane rainforest and sweeping plains. In fact, Rwanda has made it to the Forbes’ list of top 20 best destinations to travel to in 2021, citing that as soon as Covid-19 cases decreased, the country quickly resumed tourism activities with additional safety measures in order to protect not only travelers and locals, but also the endangered primates that inhabit Rwanda´s  forests. The capital, Kigali (praised for its safety and cleanliness) also offers a number of cultural experiences including modern art galleries, local crafts, fashion.

The Embassy and The Finnish-African Society have engaged closely on a few occasions in recent years, including during the Finnish-African Business Networking Event 2019 where we presented on Rwanda’s investment opportunities and enjoyed with attendees our tasty Rwandan coffee. It was a professionally-organised and well-attended event that helped us make useful contacts with Finnish business leaders, members of the international community and the African diaspora living in Finland. We look forward to our continued close partnership with the Society.
